The Bells Of San Duomo

How soft ring the bells of San Duomo
calling to all that would hear
the sunlight shines as the crowd grows
a light falling rain tastes like tears.

Boom go the bells of San Duomo
and so do they ring day by day
everyone knows where they must go
needing no one to show them the way.

Sway do the bells of San Duomo
the doors of the church bid, 'Come In'
welcome here are the high and the low
both must atone for the wages of sin.

Fainter now ring the bells of San Duomo
The pews inside are beginning to fill
the stained glass inside, it seems all aglow
everyone there must submit to God's will.

Silent now are the bells of San Duomo
all are penitent saying their prayers
if God is listening, most of us know
the bells of San Duomo are heard everywhere...
